OLORUN

is a term from the Yoruba culture whichrefers to the supreme deity in the Yoruba pantheon. Olorun is believed to be the creator ofthe universe and is considered to be all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-present. In Yoruba mythology, Olorun is often associated with thesun and is depicted as a benevolent deity whogoverns over the forces of nature, fertility and destiny. “Olorun” was created by Luiza Braz Batista out of the need to return to its origin, toreconnect to own roots. After moving toGermany, Luiza urged to do a work where itwould be possible to express the Brazilianbackground and energy Luiza grew up with. “Olorun” was premiered in 2011 in Essen and, since then, it has been performed in variousfestivals worldwide. Duration: 12  min
