Luiza Braz Batista

Luiza Braz Batista is a nonbinary Brazilian-German artist, working as a choreographer, performer, producer, curator and director. Luiza began the career as a dancer in the Grupo de Dança Primeiro Ato, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. 2009-2015 it worked at the Folkwang Tanzstudio (Essen). 2015-2018 Luiza was a member of the Dance Ensemble of Theater Trier , under the direction of Susanne Linke. 2018-2022 it worked with the Acting Ensemble of Theater Trier. Since 2008 Luiza is a guest artist of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch and since 2024, also a rehearsal director, responsible for staging Pina's pieces. Now Luiza works freelance, creating a bridge between continents, developing own works, curating festivals and performing with diverse dance, theatre and performance companies and collectives worldwide.
